We are delighted to inform you that USS DEWEY (DDG 105),  Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer  and the third U.S. Navy ship to be named after Admiral of the Navy George Dewey, will be commissioning in Seal Beach, California on Saturday, March 6, 2010. This is the first ship commissioning for the City of Seal Beach. USS DEWEY was constructed at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi.

Commissioning a ship is a time-honored tradition, which celebrates a vessels' formal entry into service with the active Navy fleet. The Long Beach, Orange County, and Newport Beach councils of the United States Navy League have agreed to sponsor USS DEWEY (DDG 105) commissioning and are raising funds to support this endeavor.

If you would like to support the crew of USS DEWEY, please visit the "Contribute" page on this website.
