Navy to Commission Guided Missile Destroyer Dewey at Seal Beach

10/29/09 -- SEAL BEACH, Calif. (NNS) -- Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus has approved Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, Calif., as the commissioning location of Pre-commissioning Unit (PCU) Dewey, the Navy's newest and most technologically advanced guided-missile destroyer. The event will be the first time a U.S. Navy warship has been commissioned at Seal Beach.

10/29/09 - SEAL BEACH -- The U.S. Navy’s newest and most technologically advanced guided missile destroyer will be commissioned at the Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station, a Seal Beach and Orange County first, according to Public Affairs officer Gregg Smith.

 

Warship to be commissioned in O.C. for first time

10/29/09 - ORANGE COUNTY--The guided-missile destroyer USS DEWEY — the most advanced version of the Navy’s Arleigh Burke-class destroyer — will become the first warship commissioned in Orange County during a public ceremony to be held March 6 at the Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station (SBNWS).
